Our Heritage & Education Centre organise and host educational visits from many universities and colleges, providing training lectures to encourage careers in engineering and the marine field, helping to educate, encourage and inspire the future generation of industry experts.

Each year, our educational visits help to enlighten hundreds of students and visitors on the work of Lloyd’s Register and its unique historical development as well as expanding knowledge on the role of classification and risk management.

By promoting the organisation to a wider audience, we uphold the value of our past, and help fulfil our mission to advance education for the benefit of society.

The Heritage & Education Centre also hosts the annual Proctor Memorial lecture attended by 55 scholars, historians, researchers and members of the public, as part of the renowned King’s (College) Lecture Series. The annual lecture celebrates David Proctor’s great contribution to maritime history both in Britain and internationally. The distinguished scholars invited to present the lecture alternate between UK and overseas lecturers.
