We are pleased to announce that Shathani Nkhwa will be speaking at the 2019 Lloyd's Register Foundation International Conference.
Dr Shathani Nkhwa is a lecturer at the University of Botswana, Faculty of Medicine. She is currently involved in the Southern Africa Innovation Support (SAIS) project which is aimed at developing stronger ecosystems for additive manufacturing in the medical field. This is a collaborative project between Central university of Technology (CUT) in South Africa, The University of Botswana (UB) and the Botswana Institute of Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI)). Shathani is also currently working on establishing a research lab within the Faculty of Medicine University of Botswana at the Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital (SKMTH).
Shathani studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield, she then went on to King’s College London to further her studies and completed her PhD in Biomaterial development of resorbable synthetic grafts, as well as tissue regeneration, focusing on the development of orthobiologic dual network composites for bone regeneration. The developed synthetics grafts were suited for technology transfer and through clinical translation.
Her career objective is focused on finding affordable means of advancing biomaterial and medical device fabrication In Botswana
