Ijeoma Jane-Frances Ezika

Ijeoma Jane-Frances Ezika received her B. Engr. (1st class honors) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria in 2010. She joined the University of Nigeria in 2012 as a graduate assistant, before proceeding to UK in 2013 for postgraduate studies. She obtained her PhD from University College London UK in Feb. 2017. Her PhD research in fault tolerant computing was funded by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the PRESSID scheme.  Dr. Ijeoma is a 2018 Fellow of the US Dept. of State Techwomen Program and a 2020 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Empowering the Teachers Training (MIT-ETT) program. She is also a 2021 recipient of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering SCEE fellowship program and the academic partner in the RAE Engineering for Industry program in Nigeria. Currently, Ijeoma is spending the 2022 spring semester at MIT, where she is working with faculty to review the electronic engineering curriculum of her home university, as well as developing effective teaching methods for resource-constrained regions.

Dr. Ezika’s current research interest is in the design, development, and validation of models for effective engineering education in resource-constrained environments. She is generally passionate about engineering education, community development, youth, and women empowerment. She is the Co-founder/CTO of MAAMI Nigeria, a digital health literacy program for women in underserved communities.
