Jamie is the Director of Engineering and Supply for the RNLI. He is responsible for the design, maintenance and through life management of the large fleet of all-weather and inshore lifeboats, as well as the vehicles and infrastructure to support Lifeboat stations and lifeguarded beaches around the coast. Additionally, he is responsible for procurement and logistics across the RNLI, supporting our life saving and fundraising volunteers, retail outlets and maintenance efforts in the factories and around the coast.
Jamie brings a wealth of safety, engineering and management experience with him. Starting his career in the Royal Navy, he was an operational engineer and pilot, notably working with the RNLI as a Search and Rescue pilot in Cornwall for 2 years before taking a role as a maintenance test pilot for military helicopters. With leadership roles in portfolio management, safety and risk management, training and personnel, he finished his Service as Director of Engineering and Supply for the Commando Helicopter Force at RNAS Yeovilton.
Jamie then joined Merlin Entertainment as Director of Engineering for Chessington World of Adventures, another safety focused engineering leadership role, keeping roller coasters running, animals securely contained and hotels and commercial facilities open at one of Britain's most popular theme park resorts.
In a fast changing world with water based activities and industries on the rise around the world, the role of the RNLI as both a UK and global ambassador for drowning prevention and water safety is never more apparent. Coupled with the need for safer operational vessels and equipment, and a must-do goal to achieve a zero carbon future, Jamie has joined the RNLI at arguably one of the most exciting times and is looking forward to working with current and new partners to work towards the RNLI’s vision to save every one.
