Katherine Weatherburn, the Founder of Safetyknot is passionate about achieving safety equality for all. During her 12 years’ working in Asia, she has witnessed at first hand the devastating impact preventable injury can have upon families and organisations. Since then she has worked with schools, families, charities and government bodies to provide safety support to those who need it the most. Safetyknot is dedicated to reducing preventable injury in low and middle income countries by ensuring that safety support is culturally and contextually relevant and accessible. Safetyknot was the recipient of an LRF small grant which was used to pilot innovative training with I/NGOs in Cambodia and Nepal.
Katherine has a special research interest in the role of technology in preventing injury, and has developed The Safetyknot App to support families and construction workers. Katherine is a PhD candidate at King’s College London and her thesis explores the role of mHealth and the mobile phone in preventing unintentional injury in Asia.
