Dr Olivia Swift
Olivia Swift is a Senior Programme Manager at Lloyd’s Register Foundation, where she manages grant-giving and works in partnership with relevant stakeholders to meet global safety challenges, particularly in ocean sectors and systems. She has a PhD in economic anthropology, with an industry specialism in maritime and regional expertise in the Philippines and wider Southeast Asia region, all of which enables her to bring a human and social perspective to the Foundation's mission to engineer a safer world.
Before joining Lloyd's Register Foundation in 2019, Olivia worked at Royal Holloway, managing knowledge exchange between academics and industry/policy. She has also been a Lecturer at Goldsmiths, a Senior Research Fellow at Greenwich Maritime Institute and a Visiting Scholar at Ateneo de Manila University. In addition, she has more than a decade’s experience of consultancy research for maritime charities and labour unions, much relating to digital technology, mental health and the structures and financing of worker welfare, for which she’s spent time in numerous ports around the world. Prior to her focus on maritime, Olivia worked as an editor in education and arts publishing, as a dance critic and in theatre marketing.
