Shahar Avin, Senior Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, University of Cambridge

Shahar Avin is a senior researcher associate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER). He works with CSER researchers and others in the global catastrophic risk community to identify and design risk prevention strategies, through organising workshops, building agent-based models, and by frequently asking naive questions. He was co-lead author of two influential reports, The Malicious Use of Artificial Intelligence (2018) and Toward Trustworthy AI Development (2020). He is also an ethics advisor for the Machine Intelligence Garage, and has worked with various startups in Israel and the UK.
