Acknowledging your award
Branding
On materials that acknowledge or refer to our funding or grant agreement, including digital assets and marketing collateral, the Lloyd’s Register Foundation logo must be used wherever possible with brand guidelines adhered to correctly. The Foundation will supply its logo and guidelines upon request.
Referencing
In all materials that acknowledge or refer to our funding or grant agreement, we should be referred to as ‘Lloyd’s Register Foundation’ in full, following correct backlinking procedure (please see term 7). Where possible, the Foundation’s full description should be used (see below).

Publications
All publications that acknowledge or refer to our funding or grant agreement must be sent to the Foundation for review and approval prior to publication.
The Foundation will provide its consent to use its name or otherwise within two weeks of receipt of the proposed publication, and if no response has been received by you within two weeks, then you may publish with reference given to the Foundation and the grant, as normal.
All publications must be compliant with branding, referencing and backlinking terms.
Press releases
All external publicity that you might wish to undertake, connected with the grant, including online and offline press releases and statements, shall be submitted to the Foundation for review and approval prior to publication (not to be unreasonably withheld or delayed).
The Foundation will provide approval within one week of receipt of the proposed press release. If no response has been received then you may publish with reference given to the Foundation and the Grant, as normal.
Press releases must be compliant with referencing and backlinking terms. Mention of the Foundation and its correct relation to the grant (funder, partner etc) must be included in the main body of the press release and not only in the boiler plate.
Communications guidance
We encourage Lloyd’s Register Foundation grant holders to follow our SAFE guidance when producing written communications:

F | Is it factual and transparent, and does it work to reinforce trust in our organisation? |
E | Is it engaging and/or educational and does it make our work easier to understand? |
Social media
You may post items on social media (e.g. Twitter and LinkedIn) in relation to this agreement without prior approval from the Foundation, however you must comply swiftly with any reasonable request by the Foundation to modify or delete any such post.
Where possible, the Foundation’s Bluesky and LinkedIn accounts should be tagged.
Backlinking
On all digital materials that acknowledge or refer to our funding or grant agreement, you must link to the Lloyd’s Register Foundation homepage (www.lrfoundation.org.uk). Full guidance on the correct backlinking procedure can be found here.
Due diligence
You must disclose in full any negative publicity regarding your organisation which has appeared in the public domain, whether current or historical, that may affect Lloyd’s Register Foundation’s brand and/or reputation. If, during the lifecycle of the grant, negative publicity about your organisation appears in the media, you must inform Lloyd’s Register Foundation at the earliest opportunity and no later than two weeks from publication.
