Engineering a safer, sustainable future for the maritime industry
Lloyd’s Register is a leading provider of classification and compliance services to the marine and offshore industries, helping clients design, construct, operate, extend and decommission their assets safely and in line with environmental expectations.
In 2012, Lloyd’s Register restructured to become a unique social purpose organisation owned by an independent global charity – Lloyd's Register Foundation. The Foundation’s charitable activities are funded through an endowment and profits gifted by Lloyd’s Register’s commercial activities.
Lloyd’s Register Foundation and Lloyd’s Register collaborate to create impact across the maritime system, working with partners to upskill the global seafaring workforce, build community resilience and support a safe and just transition to zero-carbon fuels.
We help foster industry collaboration and create action-oriented solutions for the benefit of society, such as the Maritime Decarbonisation Hub, a non-profit research and action unit with a mission to accelerate the safe and sustainable decarbonisation of the maritime industry.
We work on joint research programmes, such as Maritime Trends 2050, a multi-year research programme that provides insight into the large-scale challenges affecting the maritime industry and help the international shipping community anticipate, mitigate, and overcome systemic risks to safe operations.
Lloyd’s Register Foundation and Lloyd’s Register share the same social purpose – engineering a safer world.
The world’s ocean is in our hands
A healthy ocean is vital to meeting the world's most pressing safety challenges.
