People. Progress. Performance.

As the maritime industry accelerates toward decarbonisation and digitalisation, one truth remains constant: people will be critical in delivering safe, sustainable, and successful operations.

This Human Capital Management (HCM) Forum brings together global leaders, innovators, regulators, and frontline practitioners to explore how the industry can better attract, train, support, and retain the workforce it needs today and tomorrow.

Held across two connected sessions, the forum first spotlights the global push to ensure seafarers are prepared for the transition to net-zero. Hosted by the UN Global Compact, International Transport Federation, International Chamber of Shipping, Lloyd's Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hub and Lloyd's Register Foundation, this session covers the work of the Maritime Just Transition Task Force established to help shape the regulatory shifts, guidance and collaborative frameworks shaping the future of training and safety in a changing fuel and technology landscape.

Session 2: Transforming Maritime Workforce Performance through Data, Technology & HCM

As maritime businesses navigate a rapidly evolving landscape, operational success increasingly depends on how effectively they manage their people. Human Capital Management (HCM) has emerged as a practical, data-driven approach to managing this complexity. By aligning digital tools with workforce strategy, ship operators can move beyond compliance to create a more agile, capable, and committed maritime workforce—ready to meet today’s challenges and tomorrow’s demands.

This session will explore how maritime leaders are applying practical HCM solutions, including digital learning platforms, AI-driven workforce insights, and integrated systems, to drive safety, compliance, efficiency, and crew wellbeing. From training and performance tracking to smarter recruitment and strategic retention, discover how data and innovation are unlocking new levels of human and fleet performance.
